Recently I was introduced to a newer crystal - Gabbro from Madagascar. It is similar to Blizzard Stone (although not the same) and appears to be the same as Robert Simmon's Mystic Merlinite (which is a trademark name). See the picture below.
The colors range from dark indigo/black to a black/gray/white ... sometimes with green.
The description of its metaphysical properties are:
"Gabbro's metaphysical properties are very closely associated with basalt and the granites. It is a stone to give us strength of mind … it allows us to calm and focus the mind during difficult situations … it brings stability to our lives which provides for a balance between emotion and reality or thought. Gabbro is a positive stone which helps dissipate anger and confusion, and promotes a calm influence so we may see clearly any changes which need to be made in order to stabilize our lives."
I had the inspiration to use this crystal ... and bought some beads (13mm by 18mm) - indigo/black in color. BEAUTIFUL! As I usually do when working with a new crystal ... I tried it out in various ways. This is one powerful little gem (in both meanings of the word "gem"). Worn on my body as a bracelet (recommended that one wears it on the hand or wrist), it produced a beautiful smoothing of my energetic field ... I now have this feeling of stillness - like being in the eye of a hurricane. I can sense the chaotic energies outside my field when I am out and about, but I remain in the eye of peace. Then I tried it in my guest room as a chi catcher/enhancer. A couple days after I put it up, I went into the room and had the most welcoming feeling of peace. Now, I've put one up in my bedroom and it feels wonderful. Recommending it to my clients.
Anyway, I am suggesting that anyone who would like to bring some peace into their hectic lives buy some Gabbro (also spelled Gabro). Wear it as a ring or bracelet to smooth out any stress in your everyday life ... and/or put a larger piece in the middle of a room/house/office, in what is the Center/Earth area of the Bagua. This will ground that peaceful feeling into the room/house/office.
It is really nice because it doesn't make one lazy or not wishing to work ... it just makes one feel peaceful as one goes along doing whatever work is there to do. This is a real stress buster!
